Hello and welcome to Trout Scout Guiding!
I’m Shelen Scout Boyes, a professional fly fishing guide based in Queenstown, on New Zealand’s South Island. As a Kiwi-American and one of the few female guides in the country, I bring nearly 10 years of fly fishing experience in both Aotearoa and abroad. I'm a registered member of the New Zealand Professional Fishing Guides Association and committed to delivering a safe, enjoyable, and high-quality experience on the water.
Whether you're after a full-day trip, a multi-day helicopter adventure, or an immersive overnight backcountry mission, I’ll tailor each outing to your interests and skill level. From hunting trophy browns to simply soaking up the serenity of wild rivers, I’m here to help make your fly fishing experience one to remember.

Fly Fishing Services

Single day
A full day of guided fishing, including pick-up and drop-off, a catered riverside lunch, premium gear such as Patagonia boots and Sage rods and reels, and, if needed, up to an hour of casting instruction before the fishing begins.

Multi-day
Everything included in a full-days fishing but with multiple days of opportunities to catch elusive New Zealand trout.

Overnight
A multi-day, overnight backcountry trip is on just about any anglers bucket list. You can either hike in on foot or access remote rivers by helicopter, allowing you to fish more of the South Island. This optimizes fishing time, creates more opportunities for larger fish encounters and preview some of the most remote and stunning scenery. Please note that overnight trips incur an additional overnight fee.
